Egg donation and surrogacy in Ukraine

Surrogacy is very well regulated in Ukraine, but ONLY for heterosexual married couples. Furthermore, for many countries the man must be the father, so there should be no sperm donation. Egg donation is permitted in Ukraine, but is anonymous. However, the intended parents receive a comprehensive profile of the donor.

The intended mother must also prove that she is unable to carry or have children herself.

In Ukraine, there is also NO court order awarding parenthood to the intended parents.

Here, only a birth certificate is issued in which the intended parents are named as parents. This certificate is valid in Ukraine, but in many countries this is not sufficient. The intended father is the sole father from the outset, but the intended mother must adopt her own child in many European countries.

However, some countries allow a so-called legal opinion for the best interests of the child, which, like a court order, awards parenthood to the intended parents. However, this must ALWAYS be discussed on a case-by-case basis (country of the intended parents with a lawyer).

Surrogacy is commercially regulated in Ukraine, so the surrogate may receive compensation from the intended parents.

There is little contact between the surrogate and the intended parents in Ukraine.

PGD and sex determination of embryos is legally permitted in Ukraine.

To summarize, Ukraine is a very good country for surrogacy if the couple is heterosexual and married.

NOTE: There is currently a war in Ukraine. The intended parents themselves are therefore asked to think about whether this risk is worth it. We at Sunny Surrogacy will be happy to advise you on this.

Compared to other countries where surrogacy is permitted, the costs are much lower.

A surrogate is quickly found in Ukraine.

We will be happy to advise you on this destination.
