GHANA
Egg donation and surrogacy in Ghana
Egg donation and surrogacy are established by law in Ghana.
The following family models are possible: Singles – female/male – heterosexual couples – whether married or not.
The intended parents are granted sole parenthood by Court Order, as is the case in the USA, for example. This is even possible BEFORE birth, i.e. pre-birth. The intended parents also receive a Pre-Birth Order from the court. Adoption is therefore not necessary.
Surrogacy is commercially structured in Ghana, which means that the surrogate receives a fixed amount (known as compensation) from the intended parents.
The relationship between the intended parents and the surrogate can be chosen freely, either frequently or less frequently.
Egg donation is also legal in Ghana. There are local egg donors or cryopreserved eggs, e.g. from Ukraine. Embryos can simply be brought to Ghana in order to carry out surrogacy there.
In Ghana, we only work with very good IVF clinics, surrogacy agencies and reproductive lawyers.
Compared to other countries where surrogacy is permitted, the costs in Ghana are much lower.
A surrogate is quickly found in Ghana.
