Egg donation and surrogacy in Colombia

Egg donation and surrogacy are legal in Colombia.

All family models, i.e. singles – female/male – heterosexual or homosexual, married or unmarried, can carry out egg donation and surrogacy in Colombia.

However, the intended parents only receive a birth certificate where, for example, one of the intended fathers is listed as the legal father. The surrogate is therefore still on the birth certificate and must then be removed in a second step. In many European countries, an adoption procedure is then necessary for the other partner.

Surrogacy in Colombia is altruistic, which means that the surrogate may not actually receive any compensation from the intended parents, but may receive an expense allowance.

The relationship between the intended parents and the surrogate is not very strong in Colombia, similar to Ukraine.

Egg donation is also legal in Colombia. There are local egg donors or cryopreserved eggs, e.g. from Ukraine. Egg donation is generally regulated anonymously in Colombia.

PGD and sex determination is legal in Colombia.

In Colombia, we only work with very good IVF clinics, surrogacy agencies and reproductive lawyers.

Compared to other countries where surrogacy is permitted, the costs in Colombia are lower.

In Colombia, it generally takes 4-6 months before a surrogate can be found.
